A QUIET AFTERNOON BY THE PIER

Since David has a relatively relaxed timetable at work this year, we decided that on Friday morning after breakfast that we would head to one of our favourite costal towns for a walk. One thing that I love about this costal town is that although we live in an extremely touristic area, this town always seems to be quiet and away from all of the crowds since it is more like an old fashioned fishing town. To me that is the beauty of the town – the old back streets and the tiny coffee shops that always have space to sit down and relax next to the pier and the beautiful local shops that sell hand-made goods (we just picked up a beautiful nautical flag of the Union Jack that I’m planning to hang in Jack’s room!). We ended up doing our usual route between the back streets and grab our coffee and pastries to go and head to the front to look at the boats and watch the fishermen go about their day. These are the moments that I will miss when Jack gets older and starts to go to school. I can’t help but look at these photos and smile – I know I am such a cheesy Mum already but I am loving Motherhood so much and having Jack makes me feel so complete. Since Jack has just passed his three month mark, I am slowly getting more confident to go out with him. Before I was always nervous to go too far from home in case he needed feeding or changing or just generally felt uncomfortable and needed to be at home. I suppose these are typical new Mum feelings but I’m proud of my progress, especially during the crazy times that we are living with just about everybody becoming paranoid of walking close to people and leaving their homes. I can’t wait for this year to see what it has in store for us. I can’t wait for Jack’s first Summer and his first real Christmas since last year we were in complete lock down and jack was only one month old! For now I am enjoying our little walks to the coast as a family and our little trips to the mountains to start to get back into shape!

Where you guys live, what are the restrictions like? Is it possible for you to go about your daily lives or are you still stuck at home? My family back in the UK has been locked down for what seems like such a long time and it kills me that they can’t visit or meet Jack!

Stay safe,
G
