Every Sunday David and I like to have a “family day”. We always walk across to his parents’ house since we recently moved to the same town before Jack was born for a calmer life outside of the city and we have a lunch together and usually go home in the evening. This Sunday was no different but we got to enjoy Calçots as we are now in Feburary! I’ve now been living in Catalonia for over two years and since my husband is from here, eating the local foods and enjoying their customs is something second nature to me now! Calçots are basically like spring onions that they put on the fire until they are black and you peel them off and dip them in the romesco sauce. It gets really messy since you have to hold the onion up in the air and dangle it into your mouth so we usually wear adult bibs!!

Spending time with Jack’s cousins is also a great way for him to start bonding with them and Jan already started to speak to Jack (how cute is the photo of Jack smiling at Jan!?) and it’s so beautiful to see them already starting to have a bond together. I can’t wait for Jack to get a little older so he can really start to explore these things and share these moments with us. I start to wonder more and more, will Jack like these traditional foods? Will he prefer his Mama’s traditional food? Which language will he speak more? I guess (and I hope) he will embrace all of his traditions and cultures and I can’t wait! Today we ordered the cutest bike seat for this Summer ready for when he hits 9 months and I can’t wait to share the photo’s with you guys!!

Please tell me about what traditional food you eat in your area, I’d love to know!!

Love,

G
